Walter Stühmer

Walter Stühmer (born November 4, 1948 in Bogotá , Colombia ) is a German physicist .

Career

After studying physics and doing a doctorate at the Technical University of Munich in 1980, Stühmer was initially a research assistant at Washington University from 1980 to 1983 .

From 1983 he was employed as a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen before moving to the Max Planck Institute for Experimental Medicine , which is also located in Göttingen, as director and research assistant in 1992 . There he is head of the department of molecular biology of neural signals in the field of ion channel research.

In addition to his research activities, he has been an honorary professor at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen since 1995 . Stühmer is also a member of the supervisory board of the Society for Scientific Data Processing mbH Göttingen (GWDG).
