Walther Hoß (also Hoss) (born February 20, 1900 in Stuttgart ; † July 18, 1993 there ) was a German architect and construction clerk .

Walther Hoß studied architecture and graduated in 1924. He then worked as a freelance architect for 13 years with a teaching position at the State Building School. In 1945 he was acting mayor in Schönaich and from 1945 to 1946 acting district administrator in the district of Böblingen. In 1946 he became head of the headquarters for the reconstruction of Stuttgart. From 1947 he worked as general building director of Stuttgart, sometimes the official title of building mayor is also found . In 1948 he had his general development plan approved by the Stuttgart City Council, in which the Rote Straße was intended as the main traffic axis parallel to Königstraße. It should be 48 meters wide and connect to two major highways that led further west. A cross connection to this new traffic axis should lead via the Kronprinzenpalais. The palace, which protruded “as a locking bolt” into the new building plan, was first to be demolished according to Hoß's will: “First demolish the palace.” Since 1951, Hoß had been a technical assistant for 14 years . On July 5, 1954, as a representative of the city of Stuttgart, he gave a lecture at the meeting of the Council of Ministers, the topic was the urban design of downtown Stuttgart and traffic management; The question of the reconstruction or demolition of the Kronprinzenpalais and the New Palace and the design of the station square and the Rosensteinpark, the new state parliament building were discussed. In 1946 Walther Hoß was a member of the Constituent State Assembly of Württemberg-Baden . He was named professor . He was honored with the Paul Bonatz Prize by the city of Stuttgart, and in 1969 he was awarded the Great Federal Cross of Merit .
