Felling

To upgrade the habitat for reptiles and plants that need light, a major logging was carried out on the Wasserflue in 2006. The Egg-Königstein forest reserve, to which the rugged Wasserflue-Südfelsen belongs, is the largest forest reserve in the canton of Aargau with 240 hectares. This intervention is justified by the fact that the watercourse primarily represents an important habitat for endangered animal and plant species; logging thus serves to preserve biodiversity.
