Thread newt - males in water costume

Water costume describes in pigs (predominantly in the genera triturus and Ichthyosaura ) the formation of a water-customized appearance. The skin is smooth, slimy and has a pronounced color. The tail is laterally flattened and skin seams are more or less pronounced. The water content of the newt is significantly increased.

The opposite of the water costume is the land costume .
