Vasily Nikititsch Mitrochin
Vasili Mitrokhin ( Russian Василий Никитич Митрохин , scientific. Transliteration Vasilij Nikitič Mitrokhin * 3. March 1922 in the village Jurassowo, Ryazan Governorate ; † 23. January 2004 in London ), from 1948 until his retirement in 1984 employees of the KGB , last in the rank of colonel . On November 7, 1992 he defected to Great Britain with the help of the British secret service SIS . The documents he delivered, the so-called Mitrochin archive , gave insight into the identity of a few hundred Russian agents ("illegals"), as well as information about operations of the former KGB around the world.
