Wendisch Priborn is a district of the municipality of Ganzlin in the east of the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany).

Location and traffic

The round Wendisch Priborn is located about 4 km north of Meyenburg and about 12 km south of Plau am See . In the south the place borders on the state of Brandenburg . The source of the Dosse is located on the southern border . Several hills in the local area reach over 100  m above sea level. NHN . The highest point ( 105.3  m above sea level ) is in the northeast. Agricultural areas predominate. Only a few areas are forested.

Wendisch Priborn is located east of the federal highway 103 . The federal highway 19 (15 km) can be reached via the junction Röbel / Müritz , the federal highway 24 (10 km) via the junction Meyenburg .

The place is on the railway line Güstrow – Meyenburg, which is currently only used sporadically in excursion traffic . The next train station with regular passenger traffic is Meyenburg as the end point of the Neustadt – Meyenburg railway line .

Liebhof and the former Gut Tönchow are located in the district of Wendisch Priborn.

As always, the village lives from agriculture. At the time of the so-called turnaround , about 220 villagers were employed in the agricultural production cooperative. Today there are two large dairy and pig farms .

history

Wendisch Priborn emerged as a farming village in the feudal system . During disputes between the grand lords, it was first mentioned in 1502 as Priborn . The district of Tönchow was mentioned in a document as early as 1289. Wendisch Priborn does not have a founding document. According to a document from Meyenburger Rohr from 1516, the village was called Großer Priborn.

In the course of the National Socialist Germanization of place names, the place was renamed "Freienhagen" on August 5, 1938. In 1948 it got its original name back.

On May 25, 2014, Wendisch Priborn formed the new municipality of Ganzlin with Ganzlin and Buchberg (Mecklenburg) .

  • August Reckling (born November 16, 1843 Wendisch-Priborn, † December 30, 1922 Dobbertin), Grand Ducal Music Director in Schwerin, his composed marches are still played by the Bundeswehr today.

  • Prof. Ewald Schuldt (1914–1987), director of the Museum of Prehistory and Early History in Schwerin, worked as a gardener in Wendisch-Priborn before 1935.
