workpiece

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A workpiece is a single, delimited part of largely solid material that is processed in some form (e.g. stone ). The processing method itself does not matter. In the case of more complex objects, it is more likely to mean the individual component and less often the already (partially) assembled assembly .

The term workpiece has established itself in trade and industry . It connects the work (the processing, the work ) and the object to be processed (the piece ).

A blank is a workpiece in the processing chain has already undergone a processing step and which is provided for a further processing step. A blank can be made from a semi-finished product and later become part of a semi-finished product .
