Werner Helmich

Werner Helmich (born June 17, 1941 in Asch ) is a German professor of Romance studies at the Karl-Franzens University of Graz . In research and teaching he represents poetological questions in French, Italian and Spanish literature and is considered one of the eminent comparative aphorism researchers worldwide.

Life

Helmich studied Romance Studies, German Studies and Philosophy at the Universities of Frankfurt a. M. and Lyon. He lectures and publishes in German, French, Spanish and Italian and in this way ensures an unusual network of philological, poetological and aesthetic discussions beyond the boundaries of language cultures. His main research interests are: Romance aphorism, late medieval allegorical theater, Romanian narrative literature, intra-Romance comparative literature, multilingual literature, poetics of review.
