Werner Hoosmann (born October 20, 1887 in Marggrabowa ; † February 2, 1947 in Brannenburg ) was Lord Mayor of the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr from May 11 to August 31, 1945 .

Life

Werner Hoosmann grew up as the son of a tax inspector in East Prussia. After studying law in Freiburg and Königsberg , he worked from 1915 to 1917 as a magistrate's assistant in the city administration of Insterburg , and from 1917 as a city councilor in Bromberg .

In 1919 he came as town counsel to Mülheim an der Ruhr and was elected in 1920 to the city treasurer. Hoosmann held this office until 1933. He was then retired by the National Socialists. The basis for this decision was the law for the restoration of the civil service .

In May 1945 the American military government reactivated him and appointed Hoosmann as acting Lord Mayor of Mülheim. At the end of August 1945 he resigned from this post for health reasons. In addition to this official justification, alleged differences with the military government were decisive for his decision.

Hoosmann then retired to Brannenburg am Inn, where he died a little later in February 1947.
