Werner Klumpp 1977

Werner Klumpp (born November 12, 1928 in Baiersbronn ; † January 8, 2021 ) was a German politician , honorary chairman of the FDP / DPS and Saarland's Minister of Economic Affairs .

Life

Werner Klumpp was an air force helper from 1944 to 1945 and was seriously injured. From 1952 to 1953 he attended the Leibniz College and from 1953 to 1958 studied law and political science at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen . After passing the state examination in law , he became a research assistant and was a social judge at the Saarland Social Court for two years . He then worked from 1968 to 1974 as senior government councilor and government director in the Saarbrücken Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Healthcare.

Klumpp joined the FDP in 1957 and was state chairman of the FDP Saar from 1970 to 1984 and from 1998 to 2000. In 1974 he became president of the Saarbrücken city association and remained so until 1975. From 1975 to 1982 he was a member of the state parliament . From 1977 to 1982 he was Minister for Economic Affairs, Transport and Agriculture and Deputy Prime Minister in the Röder VI , Zeyer I and Zeyer II cabinets . Due to the death of Prime Minister Franz Josef Röder , he temporarily held the post of Prime Minister for a few days from June 26 to July 5, 1979, until Werner Zeyer was elected . In 1982 he became President of the Saar Savings Banks and Giro Association. He held this position until 1997. From 1982 to 1984 Werner Klumpp was a member of the federal executive committee of the FDP . From 1982 to 1987 he was a member of the board of trustees of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation .
