Werner Lantermann

Werner Lantermann (born on August 13, 1956 in Dinslaken ) is an expert on birds with a focus on parrot birds .

Life

Lantermann studied theology, biology and social sciences. Since 1975 he has been involved in private bird keeping. Professionally, he was active in child and youth work. In 1981 he succeeded in first breeding the green-cheeked amazon in Germany , the black-eared parrot in 1982 and the miller's amazon in 1989 . He wrote books on parrot birds , often with an emphasis on behavior and animal welfare. From 1988 to 1994 he was chairman of the private "Institute for Parrot Research" eV in Oberhausen . From 1997 to 1999 he was the editor of the scientific series Parrot Biology published by Arndt-Verlag (Bretten) , which was edited by him, Thomas Arndt and Ralph Schmidt. For his publications he was u. a. honored with the Steinbacher Prize of the Feathered World in 2000 and 2008. He still publishes in specialist journals like Parrotien today.

As of 2018, he was the author of around 400 publications, including 28 books.
