Wilhelm Frank (born June 16, 1858 in Zülkowitz ; † August 23, 1911 in Breslau ) was a Catholic clergyman, writer and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Frank attended high school in Leobschütz and studied theology at the University of Breslau . On June 28, 1883, he was ordained a priest at the Regensburg seminary. First he became an auxiliary priest in Groß-Peterwitz and in 1884 a chaplain in Ratibor . In 1887 he became chaplain in St. Michael and in 1888 pastor of St. Pius, both in Berlin . In St. Pius there was only one chapel and through a lively collecting activity Frank contributed significantly to the fact that a church was built in 1893. Here he also founded a worker and later a workers' association. He also played a leading role in the collections for the construction of the Corpus Christi Church on Prenzlauer Berg in 1904. In 1899 he became archpriest in Berlin, which he remained until he was appointed cathedral capitular in Breslau in 1907.

From 1894 he also undertook extensive boat trips to Norway and the Mediterranean, of which he reported in writing.

From 1893 until his death he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Magdeburg 1 administrative district of Opole 8 Ratibor and the German Center Party . On March 2, 1910, he demanded in the Reichstag that the "gypsies" move about in groups should be forbidden. He portrayed them as “an army of daring, cannibalically cruel, cunning murderers”.

He was awarded the Red Eagle Order IV class and the Crown Order III. Class .
