Wilhelm von Sternburg

Wilhelm von Sternburg (born October 24, 1939 in Stolp / Pomerania ) is a German journalist and author .

Life

Wilhelm von Sternburg grew up in Wiesbaden. Von Sternburg completed his studies in economics and history in 1969 with a degree in economics. At the same time he completed a commercial apprenticeship. He worked for many years as a journalist for various print media, for radio and television. From 1989 to 1993 he was editor-in-chief of the Hessischer Rundfunk .

Since 1993 he has been working as a freelance writer, journalist and film author. He emerged primarily as the author of historical biographies on statesmen and writers as well as on German history since the 19th century. In 2015 he was awarded the Ernst Johann Literature Prize of the city of Schifferstadt. Sternburg is a member of the PEN Center Germany .
