Will Fyffe (born February 16, 1885 in Dundee , † December 14, 1947 in St Andrews ) was a Scottish comedian , actor and singer , who took part in both silent films and music hall appearances as well as recordings.

Life

Fyffe, who had been an actor and comedian in his father's theater company since childhood and who played a role in the 1914 silent film The Maid of Cefn Ydfa by Scottish director William Haggar about the maid Ann Maddock, was very popular in Great Britain . From the 1930s he took on roles in several film productions, including the leading role in Owd Bob and the second leading role in Ruler of the Seas alongside Douglas Fairbanks junior . He was named Commander of the Order of the British Empire for his services in entertaining the troops. Remarkably, the film The Brothers , with Fyffe in one of the leading roles, was shown in German cinemas as early as April 1948.
