Wilhelm Gabalier (born September 22, 1981 in Friesach ) is an Austrian dancer .

Life

Wilhelm Gabalier is the oldest of Wilhelm and Huberta Gabalier's four children; the surname comes from French. His brother Andreas Gabalier is a singer from the folk music genre. Gabalier's father committed suicide in 2006 and his younger sister in 2008. Gabalier studies art history , geography and theology.

Gabalier danced with Babsi Koitz . In 2007 they achieved sixth place in the Austrian championships in Latin dance in the S starting class and second place in the championship over ten dances. In 2009 they switched to professionals and became Austrian professional champions. Gabalier has been dancing with Christiana Leuthner since 2010 , with whom he also forms a private couple. In 2011, the two achieved fifth place at the WDC Austrian Professional Championship in Bad Ischl.

In 2013 he bought into a dance school in Graz, which he runs with his partner. In 2015 they got married. You live in an alpine hut in Styria.

Gabalier took part in Dancing Stars on ORF five times as a professional dancer . In 2012 he reached fourth place with Brigitte Kren , second in 2013 with Marjan Shaki , fifth in 2016 with singer Jazz Gitti and fourth in 2017 with Nicole Hosp . In 2014 he led Tanja Szewczenko in second place on Let's Dance ( RTL ) . In 2020 he appeared in the first episode of the thirteenth season of Dancing Stars with Michaela Kirchgasser .

Gabalier danced in 2019 as a midnight performance on that of German national boys sheep Tern visited and the Freedom Party organized academics ball .

The broadcaster ServusTV hired Gabalier 2020 to present their formats Bares für Rares Österreich and Heimatsterne . This meant that he could not continue his involvement in the thirteenth season of Dancing Stars , which had been interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Austria .
