Willi Steindl

Wilhelm "Willi" Steindl (born August 12, 1992 in Kitzbühel ) is an Austrian racing driver .

Career

Steindl began his motorsport career in karting at the age of eight and was active in this sport until 2007. In 2008 the Austrian switched to formula racing and competed for Mücke Motorsport in the ADAC Formula Masters . He won two races and finished the season in eleventh place overall. In 2009 he started for HS Technik Motorsport in the German Formula 3 Cup . At the end of the season, the racing driver, who left the team after the seventh race weekend, finished eleventh overall. In 2010 he moved to Van Amersfoort Racing , which had won the championship title the previous year. Although Steindl could not keep up with his teammates Daniel Abt and Stef Dusseldorp , after regular placings in the points he managed to win his first race in German Formula 3 in the last race of the season. At the end of the season he finished seventh overall.

After the season he took part in tests of the GP3 series for Mücke, his former team, and achieved good placements. With his performance, he recommended himself for a regular cockpit and was signed by RSC Mücke Motorsport for the 2011 GP3 series . However, shortly before the season opener, Mücke replaced Steindl with Luciano Bacheta , as Steindl had budget problems.

Steindl is a candidate for the 27th National Council election in Austria as a member of the Austrian People's Party . He competes in the Kitzbühel district.
