William J. Henderson

William J. Henderson (born June 16, 1947 ) is an American businessman. He was the 71st Postmaster General of the United States.

biography

Henderson is an investor in Signature Systems Inc. and a member of the National Academy of Public Administration . He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in industrial relations and served in the US Army . He was also a director of comScore Networks and a board member of Economic Development , the Marrow Donor Foundation and Nature's Best Magazine .

Henderson was Vice President, Employee Relations , Chief Marketing Officer, and Senior Vice President of the United States Postal Service (USPS) from 1992 to 1994 . He then served as Chief Operating Officer at USPS from 1994 until his appointment as Postmaster General and CEO . He was also CEO of Bestline Research and Chief Operating Officer of Netflix Inc. for two and a half years . He was appointed Postmaster General in 1998, a position he held until his resignation in 2001.

In addition to his Washington work, he has held managerial positions in the postal sector in Chicago , Greensboro , Memphis , Stockton and other locations. Henderson is currently a consultant .
