Winfried Freund (born January 15, 1938 in Dortmund ; † 2011 ) was a German specialist in German . He taught at the Institute for German Studies and Comparative Literature at the University of Paderborn .

Life

Freund had been working at the University of Paderborn since 1973 . In 1975 his habilitation took place here . In 1979 he was appointed adjunct professor . At the time of his retirement in 2002, Freund was a teacher in the university department in the subject of modern German literature and its didactics. He published numerous monographs as well as articles on the history of the genre, literary fantasy, regional literature and children's and youth literature .

The journalist , literary critic , author and translator Wieland Freund is his son.
