Vladimir Aichelburg

Wladimir Aichelburg (born May 17, 1945 in Prague ) is an Austrian historian, archivist and publicist.

Aichelburg was originally trained as a radio technician and emigrated from Czechoslovakia in 1967 . From 1968 to 1976 he studied at the University of Vienna , particularly at the Institute for Contemporary History, and completed his studies with a doctorate. At the same time he worked in the Arnulf Rainer studio and for the Ariadne gallery in Vienna, and from 1972 to 2010 he was also archivist at the Vienna Künstlerhaus . Aichelburg is co-founder of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand Museum in Artstetten Castle , of which he was scientific director from 1982 to 1989 and 1999 to 2005. His specialties are the fine arts, Habsburgica and the Austrian Navy .
