Wladimir Nikolov ( Bulgarian Владимир Николов , English transcription: Vladimir Nikolov ; born October 3, 1977 in Sofia ) is a Bulgarian volleyball player .
Career
Nikolov began his career in 1995 with Levski Sofia . With Levski he was Bulgarian champion in 1997 and from 1999 to 2002 four more titles followed in the domestic league. Sofia also won the national cup in 2000 and 2001. In 2000, the outside attacker made his debut for the Bulgarian national team . He then played a season in Turkey with Erdemirspor Ereğli , before moving to French first division team Tours VB in 2003. There he became French champion in 2004. In 2005 he won the national cup and the Champions League . The following year Tours was able to successfully defend the cup. Nikolov reached third place with the national team at the 2006 World Cup . After playing for Toray Arrows in Japan in 2006/07 , he also finished third with Bulgaria in the 2007 World Cup . He then went to the Italian league and in 2008 won the Italian championship with Itas Diatec Trentino . With the national team he took part in the Olympic tournament in Beijing , which ended for Bulgaria in the quarter-finals and thus in fifth place. Nikolow then moved to BreBanca Lannutti Cuneo within Italy . At the European Championships in 2009 , Bulgaria finished third with the outside attacker. In 2010, Cuneo won the Italian Championship and the CEV Cup . The club won the cup the following season. Then Nikolow came to his current club Copra Piacenza . In 2012 he reached fourth place with Bulgaria at the Olympic Games in London .
