Wolfgang Buhr

Wolfgang Buhr (born May 27, 1932 in Prezier ) is a former German local politician ( CDU ). From 1964 to 1996 he was honorary district administrator for the districts of Soltau and Soltau-Fallingbostel and from 1972 to 1974 mayor of the Lower Saxony city ​​of Soltau .

Life

Personal and professional

Buhr was born in 1932 in Prezier in the Lüchow-Dannenberg district , which today belongs to Lemgow . He married in 1957 and had two children. From 1967 to 1997 he was chairman of the board of the Elbe-Weser energy association.

Political career

In 1960, Buhr was elected to the City Council of Soltau for the first time and was a member of it until 1996. On July 1, 1964, he joined the CDU, later he was chairman of the CDU parliamentary group in the local council for many years. From 1973 to 1977 he was chairman of the CDU district association in the Soltau district .

In 1964 he became a member of the district council in the Soltau district. In September 1966 he was elected a district committee member and district administrator of the Soltau district. At just 34 years of age, he was the youngest district administrator in the entire Federal Republic. Until the merger of the districts of Soltau and Fallingbostel in August 1977, he kept this post and finally also became district administrator of the newly founded district of Soltau-Fallingbostel .

In addition to his work in the district council, he was also mayor of the city of Soltau between 1972 and 1974 . On November 6, 1996, he chaired his last district assembly before he retired from all political offices after more than 30 years. On October 23, 1996, he was appointed honorary district administrator.

Social engagement

In addition to his political career, Buhr was also involved in various cultural and sports activities. Among other things, he was active on the board of the tourist association , the cultural association and the district sports association. From 1964 to 1998 he was also chairman of the MTV Soltau sports club from 1864 , after which he was appointed honorary chairman of the club. From 1997 to 2011 he was the representative of the town twinning between Soltau and the Polish city ​​of Myślibórz . After the end of his activity he was made an honorary citizen of Myślibórz.
