Wolfgang Fengler (basketball player)

Wolfgang Fengler (born before 1974) is a German-American basketball player who was  active  in the basketball league for MTV Wolfenbüttel , USC Heidelberg  and MTV 1846 Gießen .

career

Born in Friedberg  , Fengler grew up as the son of German immigrants from the age of three in the United States and played basketball at the University of Delaware until 1974 . In his final season 1973/74, the 2.04 meter tall indoor player scored an average of 12.7 points and 12.8 rebounds per encounter in 26 missions. In 1974 he was selected by the Memphis Tams in the ABA draft, but ultimately did not play for the team, but went to Germany for the Bundesliga club MTV Wolfenbüttel. In the same year he also made his debut in the German senior national team, for which he played 45 international matches until 1979.

In 1976 Fengler moved from Wolfenbüttel to USC Heidelberg, where he and Dietrich Keller formed a strong team under the basket for a year and in 1977 became German champion and DBB cup winner. Keller then ended his career, Fengler continued to play for the USC, won the cup again in 1978 as team captain with the Heidelberg team, and was also runner-up in the Bundesliga.

In 1979 Fengler went from Heidelberg to Giessen and played for two years for MTV in the Bundesliga and then for SpVgg 07 Ludwigsburg in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Overall, he scored Bundesliga points during his career in 2015.
