Wolfgang Jacobsen (* 1953 in Lübeck ) is a German film historian , author and editor .

Life

After finishing school, he studied German, English, theater studies and art history in Göttingen and Berlin. Since the early 1980s he has been an editor at the Berlin International Film Festival , employee of CineGraph Hamburg and the Deutsche Kinemathek . Together with Rolf Aurich , he is currently the editor of the book series Film & Schrift on the history of German film criticism (21 volumes, as of 2018) and Filit , which is devoted to the intersection of film and other arts in an essay-like manner (16 volumes, as of 2018). He is the author of numerous radio features on film and literature and, together with Martin Koerber and René Perraudin, author of the documentary films Pabst wiedersehen (Arte 1997) and Otto Preminger (Arte 1999).
