Wolfgang Niescher

Wolfgang Niescher (born February 3, 1934 in Mügeln ; † October 2, 2010 in Oybin ) was a German handball player and doctor .

During his active time he switched handball from the large field to the hall. He played for SG Bleichert, then for their successor, Motor Gohlis-Nord . From 1959 he played at Wissenschaft Greifswald and from 1961 to 1966 at SC Empor Rostock .

Niescher played in the joint German team, which was world champion at the field handball world championship (WM) in 1959 , as well as at the indoor handball world championship in 1958 (3rd place) and at the indoor handball world championship in 1961 (4th place).

Parallel to the sport of handball, Niescher studied medicine. He received his doctorate in 1957. From 1959 he completed a specialist training in Greifswald . After 1990 he had an ENT practice in Zittau . Wolfgang Niescher died on October 2nd, 2010.
