Wolfgang Sander-Beuermann (born July 11, 1947 in Göttingen ) is a German engineer and was a managing board member of the Suma eV association , which operates the MetaGer meta search engine , from July 2004 to January 2019 .

Life

After attending the Corvinianum high school in Northeim, Sander-Beuermann studied mechanical engineering in the field of thermodynamics at the University of Hanover from 1969 to 1974 . From 1974 to 1980 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Thermodynamics at the University of Hanover, where he received his doctorate on February 12, 1980.

From 1980 to 1981 a postdoctoral fellowship from the DAAD at the University of California, Santa Barbara . After his return from the USA, Sander-Beuermann took over the deputy management of the Inventor Center North Germany (EZN) of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft . This was followed by a position as a research assistant at the Institute for Fluid Mechanics and Electronic Computing in Civil Engineering at the University of Hanover.

From February 1, 1986 until his retirement on September 30, 2012, Sander-Beuermann worked in the regional computing center for Lower Saxony in the area of ​​developing and setting up search engines . In particular, he has been building the meta search engine MetaGer since 1996 .

In July 2004, Wolfgang Sander-Beuermann founded the non-profit association for the promotion of search engine technology and free access to knowledge , renamed SUMA-EV - Association for free access to knowledge (Suma e.V.) in 2009 . In the association he was a member of the board of directors and also its managing director for almost 15 years.
