Wolfgang Windhausen ( born April 4, 1949 in Duderstadt ; †  January 28, 2022 ibid) was a German poet , author , graphic artist and human rights activist .

Life

Windhausen was born in Duderstadt and grew up there. After graduating from school, he worked in public service until his retirement. For more than 25 years he was involved in voluntary prison care and was a co-founder of the prison newspaper "Die Mauer". He also worked in the probation service and as a freelancer in youth welfare. He also worked for Amnesty International for a long time . Windhausen gave lectures about his human rights work in schools.

Windhausen was a member of the international PEN Club and a member of the Writers in Prison Committee of the PEN Center Germany .

Art work

He has participated in literary competitions since the 1970s and published his first book in 1983. His texts have appeared in magazines and newspapers in Germany, France and the USA. He has published a number of volumes of poetry, portfolios and CDs of readings. Some of his texts were translated into Albanian by Ferdinand Laholli and published in the Albanian literary newspaper "ars", among others.

Other areas of work are illustrations for his own books/portfolios, etchings, woodcuts, photos, poster designs and cover designs.
