Career
Schroedter studied engineering in Berlin. After the Berlin Wall was built , he joined a group of student escape workers led by Italians Domenico Sesta and Luigi Spina , who dug an escape tunnel to the east from Bernauer Strasse . On September 14 and 15, 1962, 29 people were able to flee to West Berlin through the tunnel, which was later named Tunnel 29 .
To finance the tunnel, he and Sesta and Spina sold the film rights to the American television station NBC , which followed the construction work with two cameramen.
