Wulf von Schimmelmann

Wulf Freiherr von Schimmelmann (born February 19, 1947 in Steinhöring ) is a German manager . From February 1999 to June 2007 he was Chairman of the Board of Management of Postbank and from January 2009 to April 2017 Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Post AG .

Life

Von Schimmelmann did his Abitur at the Schloss Salem School and studied economics in Hamburg and Zurich . He received his doctorate summa cum laude from the University of Zurich ; his dissertation dealt with the savings behavior of private individuals.

From 1972 he worked for the management consultancy McKinsey , most recently as a partner. In 1978 he moved to the board of directors of the Baden-Württemberg Landesgirokasse in Stuttgart , in 1984 to DG Bank and in 1991 to the management of the Frankfurt BHF-Bank , where he became a personally liable partner. In 1999, Klaus Zumwinkel , the head of the post at the time , with whom he had known since working at McKinsey, took him to the helm of Postbank and to the board of directors of Deutsche Post AG. Under the leadership of Wulf von Schimmelmann, Postbank was promoted to the Dax in 2006. In 2007 he surprisingly resigned from the Postbank Management Board due to “personal reasons”. His contract ran until 2008. Wulf of mold man said: ". Wulf Freiherr von Schimmelmann comes from the Holstein-Danish noble family Schimmelmann . He has been married to Benita Freiin von Gersdorff since March 1996 and lives in Berg on Lake Starnberg.
