The 1973/74 season of the Vysschaya League was the 28th season of the highest Soviet ice hockey division . The Soviet championship title for the second time secured Krylja Sowetow Moscow .

The nine teams of the Vysschaya League played four times against each opponent in a common main round, making the total number of games per team 32. The team with the best points became champions, while the bottom of the table had to compete in the relegation against the second division champions. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
