Xaver Höger

Xaver Höger (born April 7, 1930 in Grönenbach ; † April 7, 2014 in Bad Grönenbach ) was a German athlete who took part in the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome .

Xaver Höger was German cross-country champion in 1956, and he won his second championship title in 1959 in the 10,000-meter run . On June 17, 1960, Höger set a German record over 10,000 meters in Helsinki with 29: 19.0 minutes, which was underbid shortly afterwards by Hans Grodotzki .

Between 1954 and 1960, Höger competed in twenty national jersey events. At the European Championships in 1958 he finished 12th over 10,000 meters in 29: 55.8 minutes. Two years later he was also in the Olympic final and finished 17th after 29: 58.0 minutes.

Höger started for TV Grönenbach with the exception of the years 1953 to 1955, when he competed for 1. FC Kaiserslautern .
