Yūhei Sasaki ( Japanese 佐 々 木 悠 兵 , Sasaki Yūhei ; born January 13, 1988 in Yonezawa , Yamagata Prefecture ) is a former Japanese ski jumper .

Career

Sasaki made his international debut in 2004 at FIS races on the Miyanomori hill in Sapporo and on the Zaō hill in Yamagata . At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2006 in Kranj , he won the bronze medal with the team. In the individual jumping he reached the 10th place. After the Junior World Championship, Sasaki was part of the FIS Cup squad , but until 2010 only started in jumping in his native Japan. On September 25th, 2009, after several top 10 placements in the FIS Cup and FIS races, he got the chance to start in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup . In his second competition in Almaty on September 26, 2010, he won his first Continental Cup points with 19th place. He also succeeded in doing this in Sapporo in January 2011.

At the Asian Games 2011 in Almaty , whose jumping competitions were held on the newly built hills of the Gorney Gigant Complex , Sasaki won the gold medal in a team with Kazuyoshi Funaki , Yūta Watase and Kazuya Yoshioka .

In August 2012, Sasaki started at an FIS Cup competition in Kuopio, and thus for the first time outside of Asia. In the Continental Cup show jumping on the same hill, which took place shortly afterwards, he again managed to win Continental Cup points.

Since the rather mediocre results in Sapporo in January 2013, he has not jumped any more in the Continental Cup. In March 2013 and 2014 he started in four FIS competitions in Sapporo before he ended his active career.
