Yu Zaiqing ( Chinese  於 在 青 , Pinyin Yú Zàiqīng ; born April 26, 1951 in Heilongjiang Province ) is a Chinese politician and sports official.

General

Yu Zaiqing attended Nankai University and received his bachelor's degree there . After completing his studies, he attended the Kansai University for Foreign Language Studies in Osaka, Japan .

Yu first worked as an administrative clerk for the State Sports and Physical Culture Commission. From 1993 to 1995 he was the director general of this commission. He then became Assistant to the Governor of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Province . In 1999 he moved to the Ministry of Sports and was appointed Vice Minister.

Sports administration

Yu has been Vice President of the Chinese NOK since 1999. At the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney , he was Chef de Mission of the Chinese team. At the 2002 and 2006 Winter Games and at the 2004 and 2008 Summer Games, he was Deputy Chef de Misson.

From 2002 to 2008 Yu Zaiqing Vice President was of the Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing . Since 2003 he has been President of the International Wushu Federation, since 2007 President of the Chinese Basketball Federation. He has held the office of Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia since 2003. He has held the same position since 2014 in the Association of National Olympic Committees .

IOC membership

In 2000, Yu Zaiqing was elected an IOC member. From 2008 to 2012 and again since 2014 he is one of the IOC vice presidents. He is a member of the Membership Election Commission, the Olympic Channel Commission and the Marketing Commission.
