Concert tours

The band first appeared in 2005 with the show Zappa Plays Zappa - Tour de Frank in Europe, Canada and the United States. She presented a selection of rock pieces from the 1960s to 1980s. In addition to Dweezil Zappa as lead guitarist , the band consisted of young musicians and some of Frank Zappa's former companions, including Napoleon Murphy Brock (saxophone, flute and vocals). Drummer Terry Bozzio and guitarist Steve Vai appeared as guests . In parts of the show, audio and video presentations of Frank Zappa and his music were played, for example in the pieces Chunga's Revenge , Dumb All Over and Cosmik Debris .

After a break, the band performed again in the United States in autumn 2006, including Halloween on October 31 in New York . The 2006 show was released on DVD in 2008.

In July and August 2007, the band played on their North America show with the same core cast as in 2006. The band then performed in Europe in September and October before returning to the US, starting with another Halloween show in New York. Ray White was a guest singer and guitarist on this tour. The 2007 tour ended in Australia in early December and continued with a handful of performances in Japan in January 2008. Steve Vai appeared again as a guest on these shows. In the summer of 2008 a short tour in the same constellation through the USA and Canada followed.

On July 28, 2011 a new tour began with the Zappa-plays-Zappa project through the USA and England. Again with the core line-up from 2006, supplemented by two other musicians.
