Zep , actually Philippe Chappuis (born December 15, 1967 in Onex ), is a Swiss comic artist . His best known work is Titeuf .

He has been drawing comics since he was eight and published his first comic magazine at the age of twelve, the title of which he kept as a pseudonym, ZEP . After attending the École des Arts Décoratifs in Geneva, he drew for the Belgian magazine Spirou , which published its first series. In addition, his work appeared regularly in Swiss newspapers and magazines. For Titeuf, the cheeky toddler with the cool girl, he was mainly inspired by memories of his own childhood. The contemporary little toddler in Nike shoes, who is very interested in everything that determines the life of adults, love and death , sex and AIDS , the environment and nuclear energy , quickly became the comic star of the 1990s in Switzerland and France . In addition to numerous awards, Zep received the Alph'Art Jeunesse from the Festival International de la Bande Dessinée d'Angoulême in 1996 for Titeuf . In 2004 he won the Grand Prix de la Ville d'Angoulême for his life's work .

In 2005 the French Post honored him with the issue of three special postage stamps and one overprint. His newest comic album, Happy Sex , was released in autumn 2009 .
