Zeutern is one of four districts in the municipality of Ubstadt-Weiher in Baden-Württemberg .
geography
Zeutern is located on the Katzbach , a tributary of the Kraichbach .
history
Zeutern was first mentioned as Villa Ziuterna in the Lorsch Codex , the entry can be dated to 769/770. Initially owned by the Odenheim monastery, the place came to the Lords of Kislau in 1225 and to the Duchy of Speyer in 1241 . The local noble family von Zeutern can also be traced back to the 13th century, Rainmar von Zweter may also be attributed to him.
The place has been plagued by wars and epidemics over the course of its history. In 1734 a battle between the French and the Imperial took place on the outskirts.
Viticulture has been documented in the village since 1150. The Waldmühle settlement, on the other hand, served local businesses early on. Zeutern received a rail connection at the end of the 19th century. The place joined the community Ubstadt-Weiher on January 1, 1972 .
Culture and sights
Buildings
- The catholic old Martinskirche (late medieval, Baroque-style building, now profaned ), the new Martinskirche built in 1962 and the Marienkapelle (which has recently been extensively restored)
- The more than 400 year old half-timbered house at Unterdorfstrasse 53 , which is now the Ubstadt-Weiher music and art school.
- The newly restored ridge frame house is next to the ridge column house in Untergrombach (1428) the second oldest half-timbered house in ridge frame construction in all of Baden.
Natural monuments
To the northeast of Zeutern is the Rennweghohle, a Lösshohlweg that is designated as a nature reserve. An educational and adventure trail runs south of the district, opening up further ravines and orchards.

The place has a train station and two other light rail stations on the Bruchsal - Odenheim route (S 31 KVV ). The main road (L 552) leading through the village connects Ubstadt-Weiher with Eppingen .
education
There is an Adventist private school (Adventist Confession School Zeutern, ABSZ, state-recognized primary and secondary school) and a public primary school ( community school ).
