The Zinzendorf schools in Königsfeld in the Black Forest are among the largest state-recognized private schools with boarding schools in Baden-Württemberg .

The name is derived from Nikolaus Ludwig von Zinzendorf , the founder of the Moravian Brethren . His pedagogical ideas were progressive, child-friendly, individual and liberal and are anchored in the model of the Zinzendorf schools.

In ten different types of school, pupils can obtain any general qualification - from the technical college entrance qualification or intermediate secondary school entrance qualification to the general university entrance qualification - and various vocational qualifications.

School authority and educational concept

The school responsible for the Christian school system is the European-Continental Province of the Brothers Union , also known as the Moravian Brethren Community , which, as a Protestant Free Church, is a member of the Protestant Church in Germany. This maintains another Zinzendorf school in Tossens .

The educational concept of the Zinzendorf schools is based on Christian values and pursues the principle of permeability of the educational system. According to the motto of the Bishop of the Brothers Unity and founder of modern pedagogy, Johann Amos Comenius , the school should "lead to the development of the best facilities in a relaxed teaching atmosphere and be a workshop for humanity."

history

The history of the school and the place are closely linked. Königsfeld was established in 1806 as a settlement of the Moravian Brethren. In 1809 today's Erdmuth-Dorotheen-Haus was founded as a “girls 'institution”, and in 1813 the “boys' institution” was founded.
