Zohar Fresco

Zohar Fresco (* 1969 in Israel ) is an Israeli percussionist and composer who specializes in frame drums .

Live and act

Fresco is a descendant of the Turkish composer Ishak Fresco Romano (also called Tanburi Ishak Efend, 1745–1814), who lived at the court of Selim III. was active. Zohar Fresco began playing drums as a child and developed a new fingering technique on the Tof Miriam frame drum . He was a founding member of the Israeli-Arab band Bustan Abraham , which existed between 1991 and 2003 and released several albums. Then he became known in the field of jazz as a member of the jazz trio Możdżer Danielsson Fresco , which he formed together with the Polish pianist Leszek Możdżer and the Swedish double bass player Lars Danielsson . He also worked with Hamid Drake , and Ara Dinkjian . He was also on tour with Philip Glass and can be heard on albums by Ross Daly and Kelly Thoma .
