An association of scientifically managed zoos in Switzerland exists under the name Zooschweiz . All member institutions are under the direction of scientists such as biologists , zoologists and veterinarians .

Zooschweiz is a regional association under the umbrella of WAZA .

The member institutions are:

• Basel Zoological Garden
• Goldau Nature and Animal Park
• Papiliorama Kerzers
• Walter Zoo Gossau
• Langenberg wildlife park
• Zurich Zoo

In 2017 the following zoos joined:

• Dählhölzli animal park / Bärenpark Bern
• Knies Children's Zoo Rapperswil
• La Garenne Le Vaud Zoo

Zooschweiz operates the competence center for wildlife husbandry. Here, private individuals and institutions can find experts who prepare reports on animal welfare. In addition to questions of species-appropriate wildlife husbandry, Zooschweiz is involved in nature conservation projects such as the reintroduction of European pond turtles in Switzerland.
