The tongue whistle (in Thai ปี ลูก แคน - Pi Luk Khaen ) is a wind instrument made of bamboo cane , which is played in the northeast of Thailand , the Isan . They are about 30 cm long and carry a freely swaying piece of metal attached to one end. The sound is produced by blowing. The Pi Luk Khaen are used as a solo instrument or in an ensemble.
