Zwi Jehuda Kook

Zwi Jehuda Kook ( Hebrew צבי יהודה קוק; * April 23, 1891 in Zaumel in the Kovno governorate , today Lithuania ; † March 9, 1982 in Jerusalem ) was the spiritual father of the messianic Gush Emunim , Orthodox rabbi and leader of the Merkas HaRaw Kook . He was born the son of Abraham Isaac Kook and was named in honor of the brother of his maternal grandfather: Rabbi Zwi Jehuda Rabinowitch Teomim. The followers of the teachings of Zwi Jehuda Kook are also called Kookists (German: Kookists ).
