The Zwiefaltendorfer stalactite cave is located in Zwiefaltendorf , a district of the city of Riedlingen in Baden-Württemberg . It was discovered during the excavation of a cellar on January 19, 1892 at a depth of ten meters in the limestone tuff . In the same year the cave was opened as a show cave . With a length of 27 meters, it is the smallest show cave in Germany . The cave can be accessed from the cellar of the Zum Rössle inn in Zwiefaltendorf.

The cave contains secondary stalactites coated with pearl sinter .

The four to six meters high and two to three meters wide cave was formed in tufa . It was formed at the same time as the limestone sediments that precipitated from karst water since the last postglacial warm period ( Würme Ice Age ) . It is one of the rare primary caves .

A visit to the cave is combined with that of the inn and a small brewery tour. The guide also answers questions about distilling schnapps.
