Çaydanlık
Çaydanlık (from Turkish "teapot" ) is the name for a cookware consisting of two teapots for the preparation of tea the Turkish way .
Structure and use
The jugs are used one above the other on a heating source. In the lower, larger jug, water is boiled and then kept hot. The upper pot rests on the lidless lower pot. This contains moistened tea leaves, the aromas of which are unlocked by the heat.
As soon as the water in the lower pot is boiling, it is used to pour the tea in the upper pot. After a short steeping time, you get a strong tea, which is diluted with hot water when pouring, depending on the taste. In Turkey , a distinction is made between strong tea (demli çay) and thin tea (açık çay).
There are also versions with an integrated heating source for outdoor use that are similar to the Russian samovar .
