Íslenzk Fornrit

Hið íslenzka fornritafélag is a publisher that creates standardized editions of old Icelandic texts (such as the Isländersagas ) with detailed introductions and extensive explanations. They are mainly used within Old Norse research.

This publishing company was founded in 1928 by Jón Ásbjörnsson and published from 1933 the series Íslenzk Fornrit with a focus on medieval Icelandic literature. The publications are distributed by Hið Íslenzka Bókmenntafélag .
