A bailer also Ösfatt or Lenz barrel called, is a small shovel-like vessel for scooping or Lenzen of smaller amounts of water from a boat is used.

Due to its shape with a straight edge, it is particularly suitable for removing water of shallow depth.

A Pütz is better suited for scooping up larger amounts of water .
