from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The bridging allowance is an element of German penal law .

According to Section 51 of the Prison Act (StVollzG), a bridging allowance is formed from the income of a prisoner from work, freelance employment or permitted self-employment, which is intended to secure the life needs of the prisoner and his dependents during the first four weeks after his release. Four seventh of the corresponding income is used for this, the rest of the amount goes to the prisoner's house money .

The bridging allowance is paid on the day of dismissal; the right to payment is non-attachable , except for maintenance creditors.

While in custody, the prisoner can be allowed to use part of the bridging allowance for reintegration measures, in particular to find an apartment or a job.
