Überwald

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Überwald is located in the southeast of the Bergstrasse district between the Vorderem and Hinterem Odenwald and includes the communities of Abtsteinach , Grasellenbach and Wald-Michelbach . Wald-Michelbach is the central location of the Überwald. The name was probably first used by the residents of the neighboring Weschnitz Valley. The direction of view from this valley goes over the ridge of the Tromm "over the forest" in the direction of the higher-lying villages of Wald-Michelbach, Abtsteinach and Grasellenbach.

The Überwald gave its name to the railway line leading there from the Weschnitz Valley, the Überwaldbahn . The preferred road connection leads over the 423 meter high Kreidacher Höhe from Mörlenbach to Wald-Michelbach.

The three Überwald communities include the following localities:

Unter-Abtsteinach , Ober-Abtsteinach , Mackenheim , Siedelsbrunn , Kreidach , Stallenkandel , Ober-Mengelbach , Gadern , Wald-Michelbach , Ober-Schönmattenwag , Unter-Schönmattenwag , Aschbach , Hartenrod , Affolterbach , Kocherbach , Wahlen , Scharbach , Tromm , Litzelbach , Hammelbach , Gras-Ellenbach .
