The 1.401 was a steam powered rail car of the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB). It consisted of a two-axle machine part with a boiler, steam engine, supplies and driver's cab, as well as a carriage body with the passenger compartments attached to it. This also supported itself on a running bogie.

history

When it became clear that two-axle steam railcars could not satisfy the hopes placed in them, the development of four-axle vehicles began , such as the 1.401 railcar of the kkStB for the Swětla – Ledeč – Kácow railway in the Sázava valley east of Prague . The machine part of the Komarek type was supplied by the Bohemian-Moravian machine factory , the vehicle part by Ringhoffer in Prague- Michov.

The vehicle had a two-cylinder wet steam composite engine, with Heusinger - control and a Gölsdorf -Anfahrvorrichtung. There were eight second- class seats and 31 third-class seats and a toilet.

After the First World War , the railcar stayed with the ČSD , which designated it as M 223.001 . It was still used on its main line, which was even extended to Čercany . But when it was replaced by locomotives of the 423.0 series, it was transferred for test drives to the local railway near Chrudim and Böhmisch Leipa – Steinschönau , from where it came to Kuttenberg . It was not until 1940 that he came to Opočno , where he replaced the decommissioned M 124.002 .

It was retired in 1948 after new diesel multiple units of the M 131.1 series had been put into service.
