ʿArʿar ( Arabic عرعر, DMG ʿArʿar ) is the provincial capital of al-Hudud al-Shamaliyya (province of the "northern border") in Saudi Arabia . The population is 145,237 (as of 2004).

The city was founded in 1951 after the Tapline was finished by Saudi Aramco . It is connected to the Saudi Arabian transport network via a regional airport ( IATA code RAE). The tapline leads past ʿArʿar.
