Ḫilašši

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ḫilašši is the Hittite court genius who protects the courtyards of houses, palaces and temples. According to a Hittite description of the gods, his statuette was a standing iron man with a tool decorated with a sun disk and a crescent moon.

The court genius from the temple of the weather god of Manuzi was cleansed and anointed at the end of the ḫišuwa festival . When paying homage to the king "to pacify" the priest struck the king and other sacrifices on the back with the staff of Ḫilašši.

Hittite God Ḫilašši corresponds to the Palaern must Ḫilanzipa that are probably thinking female, as the name part of SIPA (after Nasal zipa ) is generally a female genius called. The group is in eighth place in the Palaan gods lists, named after the Šaušḫalla and before the fate deities Gulzannikeš .
