.li is the country-specific top-level domain (ccTLD) for Liechtenstein . It was introduced on February 26, 1993 and is administered by the University of Liechtenstein .

The technical administration is handled by the Swiss SWITCH . In addition to its role as a so-called registry , SWITCH also acted as a domain registrar , but will terminate the latter activity on February 14, 2013. In the course of this, numerous other web hosting providers criticized the behavior of the registry, as many .li domains are automatically terminated would be transferred to the subsidiary switchplus .

Registrations are carried out directly on the second level. .Li has supported the use of umlaut domains since 2004 .
